The Sharpening Guy’s method for sharpening scissors can be tailored to all needs. We use a guide-driven machine to set the correct angle for polishing finer scissors. We specialise in restoring old and antique scissors to their former glory.

Over the years we have sharpened thousands of scissors and we know just how important scissors are to their owner. We also realise that everyone has their own cutting technique and I endeavour to tailor my sharpening techniques to allow for this. Trained under the guidance of ‘The Sharpeners Guild’ in the USA I specialise in all types of hairdressing scissors, including convex edge, bevel edge and thinning scissors. Every pair of scissors goes through a 13 point sharpening process. This includes adjusting the ride line with Japanese water stones, balancing and adjustments.

The Sharpening Guys method for sharpening knives can be tailored to all needs. The slow, water-cooled process never makes the edge over heat and lose the hardness that’s crucial for a longer lasting edge.

Most knives with broken or damaged blades can usually be repaired by reshaping the tip or regrinding the entire edge. This process can be done for a small extra charge.

We specialise in sharpening a wide range of knives. From cooks’ knives to paring knives, through to hunting knives to serrated knives. These are just some of the knives we can sharpen.

Knives can be leather-honed or polished in order to get that edge razor sharp.

The Sharpening Guys method for sharpening guillotines can be tailored to all needs.

We sharpen both hand and roller guillotines; this usually involves the blade being taken apart. Damaged guillotines can usually be repaired.

Garden tools are usually one of the most neglected items in your garage so by getting them sharpened they will last for years to come.

Garden tools can be repaired if broken and usually the old garden tools are the best. After a full sharpen by the The Sharpening Guys, we will also lubricate them to protect them from the elements for free.
